Congratulations to the New England Patriots for going 14-0. This team is without a doubt the best football team I have ever witnessed and I really don't see any way they don't go 19-0 and go down as the best football team in NFL history.
About a month ago, Don Shula came out and said that should they go 19-0 their record should have an astersik next to it due to the whole Spy Gate incident back in week 1. Many people came out and said that it was just an old senile coach and old bitter players pontificating from their rears and I can understand why people would say that, but you know what? Don Shula is 100% right.
Why are many media members and sports fans not making a big deal out of what Bill Belichick and his coaching staff did back in week 1 against the Jets? They were caught trying to film hand signals from the opposing sideline during a game and they were caught red handed. Despite being guilty of CHEATING, people want to come out and say things like, "oh it's not that big of a deal" or "everyone else does it too," well guess what? IT'S STILL CHEATING!! And are we really going by the argument of, "everyone else does it so it's no big deal?" What are we 15 year old kids that just got caught with dope in our room by our parents? Get with it people! Whether it's big or small, cheating is cheating and if they are such a great football team, why did they feel the need to try and capture other team's hand signals?
In baseball Barry Bonds is the poster boy of players who are suspected steroid users. The general sports community makes a big deal about him allegedly using steroids do they not? So why should this incident be any different? Cheating is any means one can find a way to gain an illegal advantage over another. Taking steroids, filming hand signals, point shaving, etc. I shake my head when I hear hypocrites who call for Barry Bonds head for allegedly taking steroids but also want to take Spy Gate and sweep it under the rug. And guess what, there are numerous baseball players that have, are, and will use steroids, but I guess it's okay because everyone else does it right?
Why are we as sports fans and media members turning a blind eye to Spy Gate? It's not even speculation people, IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED! They cheated! Let me repeat in case you're too stupid to understand, THEY CHEATED!!! Even if they didn't gain anything from filming signals from the opposing sidelines, it's still cheating. Shame on Roger Goodell for not issuing a harsher punishment. Wow the Patroits lost their first round pick which most likely will be the last pick of the first round but it's ok because they'll still have the niners first round pick! They'll be picking in the top 10, possibly the top 5, instead of last in the first round!! Am I the only one who doesn't see any logic here. Players get suspended multiple games for substance abuse and steroid use, even a Dallas Cowboys assistant coach was suspended multiple games for taking a drug that had a banned substance to treat his diabetes. All the New England Patriots get is a first round draft pick taken away when they don't even need it? It's absurd. The punishment was absurd and everyone who wants to turn a blind eye to the whole incident is ignorant. They're cheaters, what more needs to be shown to prove that to the rest of you? Best of luck to the Patriots. I can't wait to see 19-0*.
